An Argentinian delight

I thought I would introduce to you one of my favourite artists, Fabian Perez. I first discovered Perez back in 2008 when browsing a gallery in Marylebone. His work really made an impression on me. Hmmm maybe it was the beautiful watercolour paintings of seductive females?

I did some research on Perez and learnt that his father owned a number of brothels in Campana a small city outside Buenos Aires. Nevertheless the then young Perez was exposed to beautiful women. These beautiful women could, as he put it “seduce a man simply by lighting a cigarette”. Many of these ‘ladies of the night’ are portrayed in many Fabian Perez originals. They have had a large influence on his artwork.

Perez visited Gallery 3 not far from me in Knutsford last November. I missed the opportunity to meet him. I’m keeping an eye on his movements this year. Hopefully I won’t miss his next visit to the North.
